Help me save Kansas from right-wing extremism
Hello!
My name is Jordan Metcalf, and I am running to represent Kansas House District 3. I am running because my parents taught me that if you have an opportunity to help, you have an obligation to help, and so many of the people I’ve met need the same kind of help–help that sane policy decisions can provide:
Expand Medicaid: Everyone knows someone who has had a worse health outcome because they either couldn't afford to go to the doctor or they couldn't afford their medications. Medicaid expansion isn’t a magic bullet, but is a common-sense first step toward a healthier Kansas.
Protect Reproductive Rights: No right is more fundamental than deciding what happens to your own body. Deciding whether, when, and with whom to have children is among the most sacred decisions we can make, and denying anyone that right strips them of their personhood.
Invest in public schools: We ask a lot out of our schools, and we ask even more out of our teachers. Every year, we place more demands on their time and resources, but we never seem to increase the support we give them. Then we complain when our schools don't match our expectations. Vouchers aren’t the answer- they're a scam which lines the pockets of the Betsy DeVoses of the world, at the expense of our kids (especially rural kids). We have to support students and teachers by investing in our schools. There's no shortcut.
Our current representative, Chuck Smith, has consistently opposed reproductive rights, voted against Medicaid expansion, and supported the school voucher scam. We deserve better. We can have better.
Unseating a Republican incumbent funded by the wealthiest people in Kansas will not be easy. We win by building a coalition, which means reaching every voter, sharing our message, and activating those new or infrequent voters to show up in November. Here are some things you can do to help:

Talk about it: Many people are uncomfortable "talking politics," but politics is how we solve problems that are too big to solve on our own. Every conversation matters. Tell your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers why you are voting and what your values are.
